“My base of operations was Gauthier’s Saranac Lake Inn situated on the shore of Lake Flower ... All the staff seemed to genuinely want to make guests feel right at home and enjoy their stay.
They went out of their way to provide information
on where to go, what to do and where to eat
to all their guests."

“an old-school motel retrofitted with comfy beds and organic Tima linens — turns out the owners, two 30-something brothers named Doug and Dan Brownell, along with Doug’s wife, Nicole, have won Four-Leaf Audubon eco-status for their place"

“Location, location, location"

"To start, Gauthier's is ON the Lake. . The amenities were plentiful. Canoes, kayaks, & paddle boats are all free no matter what room you stay in. If I needed anything all I had to do was ask and the owners were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The rooms and beds were great and it looked as tho the bathroom was renovated very recently. The shower was really refreshing after a long day of kayaking and I seriously want to change my shower head at home with one of theirs.
When I am on vacation, I tend to not stay alot of my time in the room of where I stay. If I wanted that then I would just book a hotel room at the holiday Inn in Bangor. Its great that Gauthier's is not in Lake Placid but only 6 minutes away is very convenient. It can become very cramped in Lake Placid!
My girlfriend and I enjoyed the hospitality that the owners and Nicole showed us. Showed us the same respect as if a neighbor had invited us over for dinner. With the pristine setting, Gauthier's has the greatest location in Saranac Lake by far."

“Awesome Place to bring your family for vacation"
Date of review: Sept 4, 2010
"I would like to first say THANK YOU to the entire staff at the Saranac Lake Inn on Lake Flower. We had stayed for 6 nights and wish we could of stayed more. The excellent staff made us feel like family. We felt right at home! We used everything the motel had to offered during our trip, The pool, free wifi, canoes, kayaks, paddel boats, basketball hoop, free games for the kids at the registration desk, sidewalk chalk was allowed for the kids to have some fun, they even ofered to start a fire so we could make smores for the kids, I was even able to pick there brain about the hot fishing spots on Lake Flower and did very well fishing. My Family and I have never been to this part of the state before and now they have us for life, this will be the only place we stay every year.
Thanks for the memories ... "

“Outstanding accommodations."
Date of review: July 25, 2010
"My fiance and I recently relocated to the Saranac Lake-area, due to a work transfer, and Nicole and Doug went out of their way to make us feel welcome during our stay. We stayed lakefront and our room was bright and cheery--excellent sunlight. We really enjoyed fishing their lakefront in the evenings and taking out one of their canoes for a quiet float. The renovations they've made to all the rooms look fantastic.
The owners really exceeded our expectations of standard hotel provisions and service. Everything from the locally roasted coffee in the morning to the all-natural soaps and conditioner made us feel comfortable during our lengthened stay. We soon ended up finding a place of our own but always look forward to stopping by to visit our friends at Gauthier's.
This is the first choice for accommodations in Saranac Lake village."
“Weekend Getway, you will never want to leave, what a view!!!”
(Delmar, NY)
"We spent a romantic weekend together at Gauthier's this May. The owners were so kind and accommodating, I believe they said they had taken the business over about a year ago from the previous owners, and had made some comfortable improvements. Right away we felt at home! I would recommend Gauthier’s to anyone. We stayed in room 31. The room had the best shower (like a massage)! Our room had a 4 post bed, with a sofa/ sitting area as well. The bedding was lovely. What was the best was the view! We could wake up to the sun coming up right over the lake! It was also nice to enjoy their home brewed coffee on the porch. They had lots of recommendations of things to do, where to eat and how to enjoy our private weekend. We were so close to everything, but still enjoyed time alone. Our next romantic weekend will definitely include Gauthier’s, especially when you get all the bonuses for half the price!"

“Why stay anywhere else?”
(NYC, NY)
"We stayed at Gauthier’s Saranac Lake this May. The weather was beautiful, and what a location. We have spent upwards of $300.00 a night to stay in Lake Placid, and for only being 5 miles away, we spent more than half the money and had a much nicer set up. The owners
are young and very friendly and also live on site. They were available for whatever we needed. The rooms have just been upgraded with cozy clean linens (I think they were Ralph Lauren) and decorative touches. The view is amazing! It was nice because we really didn't want to leave. The kids were safe to play and has plenty of property to run
around on. They had basketball and tennis, plus boats for us to use! We enjoyed sitting on out deck and staring at the view! There were plenty or restaurants (we liked "Casa") right across the street. We recommend staying here to everyone!"

“Room 29, Fabulous 360 Degree View”
(Stuyvesant, NY)
"Have stayed at Gauthier’s several times and love the corner single room with one queen bed. You can see the mountains and the lake; private and comfortable. Love to eat at Casa (Mexican restaurant) across the street and ski at Whiteface. Drive is only 8 miles to Lake
Placid where the prices to stay and eat are MUCH higher. Also, this is a great place for families--kids can canoe or paddleboat right from the shore of the motel property."

“Lovely location”
(NY, NY)
"I stayed at Gauthier’s last month and can recommend it. We had already tried some of the other motels in the area but we chose Gauthier’s because of the beautiful lakeside location. We had a room - clean & comfortable - with a balcony overlooking the lake and the sunset was beautiful! The owner lives on site and is very friendly; there are boats and canoes at the motel that you can borrow for free and there's a supermarket and some fast food places minutes away by car (our best dinner was pizza and beer sitting on the balcony and enjoying the sunset)."
